Overview
As Global Category Manager, you will be responsible for procurement of IT hardware, software, and digital services. You will develop and implement a procurement strategy, conduct supplier negotiations at an international level, and ensure that contractual conditions and high quality and service standards are maintained.
Responsibilities
- Strategic responsibility for global procurement in the areas of IT and operational technology, with a focus on further developing the expenditure structure and optimizing procurement volume
- Development and implementation of international procurement strategies for IT hardware, software, and digital services
- Analyzing global markets to identify trends and potential and to minimize risk, particularly with regard to supply chain disruptions
- Establishing and maintaining long-term partnerships with key suppliers, promoting innovation projects in collaboration with them, and monitoring supplier performance in accordance with contractual agreements and defined service standards
- Negotiating with suppliers to achieve favorable terms and implement continuous cost reduction initiatives in IT procurement
- Advising regional procurement teams on cross-category procurement issues and supporting country organizations in specific negotiations
- Developing and maintaining contingency strategies to ensure business continuity in the event of potential supplier issues or unforeseen market developments
- Continuously improving procurement processes by implementing best practices and innovative approaches to increase efficiency and long-term success
Hardskills
- Basic commercial or technical training followed by a degree (university of applied sciences or higher technical college) in business administration, technology, or IT. Ideally supplemented by further training in procurement, supply chain management (SCM), or computer science/business informatics
- At least 3 to 5 years of professional experience in strategic purchasing, preferably in technology-oriented product groups or with in-depth technical expertise
- Successful experience in managing regional or procurement areas, including the design, introduction, and implementation of procurement strategies
- Strong interest in new technologies and industry trends, with the ability to integrate these into the procurement process
- Sound experience in contract management and securing advantageous agreements
- Good German skills (B2) and good English skills (C1) to operate successfully in an international environment
